Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD) of South Dakota announced the launch of its strategic planning process for the new 2022-2025 strategic plan. This plan will determine and communicate the organization’s priorities for its services to the Deaf community in South Dakota during the ensuing three year period.

CSD of South Dakota (CSD SD) has engaged Innivee Strategies, Inc., a Deaf-owned and led organizational and leadership development consulting business, to lead the strategic planning process. They have extensive experience in supporting organizations with successful outcomes for their strategic initiatives, and we look forward to collaborating on this initiative.

“CSD’s roots began in South Dakota and thus, our organization has continued to look for ways to invest in the future and growth of the South Dakota Deaf and hard of hearing community. We have provided decades of impactful service to the community since our inception in 1975. Today the environment for the Deaf and hard of hearing community is rapidly changing; our program wishes to understand how we can build on past success and continue to deliver essential services and support as both our community and our world continue to evolve. The strategic planning process, the outcome of which will be publicly shared, creates pathways to bring key stakeholders into the discussion about the future of CSD South Dakota. This will be a transparent process with emphasis on keeping the community informed.”

— Chris Soukup, CEO

The strategic planning process aims to involve key stakeholders and constituents of the Deaf and hard of hearing community in South Dakota. This process will involve the community and stakeholders through focus groups and surveys which will be distributed during the Fall of 2021. The data from the focus groups, surveys, and interviews will guide the development of our strategic priorities and the foundation for our team to regularly review our goals.

The strategic plan will be developed by an ad hoc strategic committee made up of various volunteer representatives from the South Dakota community. This committee will envision an ambitious future for the CSD South Dakota program that positions it to address the gaps in its services and strengthen its collaboration with other organizations and agencies that serve the South Dakota Deaf and hard of hearing community.

Please watch the CSD South Dakota website and social media for updates about the strategic planning process.
